Over the weekend of 27th/28th July the East Lancs Railway held an 'End of Steam' event to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the final BR steam-hauled working on 11th August 1968. As part of this event a re-creation of the final train, 1T57, which ran from Liverpool Lime Street to Carlisle, was run on the Saturday evening, using an authentic rake of coaching stock, including two of the original Mark 1's, and several of the locomotives that hauled the train. On the Sunday morning, prior to the public service commencing, a photographic event was held at Burrs Country Park, where BR Britannia class 7MT Pacific No. 70013 'Oliver Cromwell' is seen passing with the authentic 1T57 consist.
