Reconstruction of the road bridge crossing the Derby to Birmingham railway line at Wetmore, Burton-on-Trent has begun following the demolition of the original structure on Christmas Day 2012 to enable the busy route to be upgraded under the Doncaster to Water Orton gauge enhancement scheme to W12 gauge, which will then allow larger-size containers to be used on intermodal traffic. This photograph, taken on Sunday 13th January 2013, shows the first stages of reconstruction with the three sections having been already lifted into position by the large crane that had been brought in specially for the purpose.
