3-car Metro-Cammell diesel multiple unit (50304/59115/50338) are pictured on the truncated section of the former single track Swadlincote Loop (off the Burton-on-Trent to Leicester route)at Cadley Hill Colliery on 19th April 1969. The special working was an RCTS (West Midlands Branch) tour from Coventry 'The Forester Rail Tour' that incorporated several freight-only routes in the west and east Midlands including the Cadley Hill and Worthington branches, the truncated Great Central route from Nottingham to Rugby Central and the Nuneaton to Coventry route. The staff at Cadley Hill Colliery moved two of their 0-6-0 saddle tank steam locomotives Progress and Cadley Hill No. 1 into a more prominent position in the colliery sidings to enable tour passengers to view them from the train.
