The LMS-Patriot Project’s ‘The Unknown Warrior’ takes shape behind a pair of driving wheels, within Llangollen’s engine shed, on 15th March 2011. Endorsed by the Royal British Legion, the engine will become a National Memorial, and take the number of the last example of the class built, No. 5551 (BR No. 45551). With the frames and buffer beams now fitted together, the project aims to complete the build for the 100th anniversary of the Armistice, in 2018.
