By 1997 the unique Brush built Class 89 had been ressurected from withdrawel and preservation and pressed back into 'front line' service on the East Coast Main Line. GNER spent some substantial sums in bringing the locomotive back to main line standards after its withdrawel from service in the early 1990's. Upon re-introduction it was mainly concentrated on the King's Cross-Bradford Forster Square/Leeds workings. At the point this image was taken it was operating 2 return services a day from Bradford to King's Cross. With a complimentary rake of GNER-liveried Mark 4 coaches in tow, No. 89001 brings the 1136 from Bradford to King's Cross into Shipley on 10th June 1997.
