A somewhat unusual sight in the sea-side town of Hunstanton is a lone 'Home' semaphore signal. The signal marks the location of the former Hunstanton Station, with the Coal Shed Gallery one of only two remaining building left from the original structure. The Line to Hunstanton was not included in the 1960's Beeching cuts, but when the Royal Family agreed to use Kings Lynn Station (near to Sandringham), British Railways may have assumed that there was no obligation to retain the Station at Hunstanton. It finally closed on the 3rd May 1969 after 107 years of operation.
