Another one of those shots where nearly everything in it is history, (well platform 9 of King's Cross is still there, just 9 not 3/4, this was pre Harry Potter!). But you will not find the 31 or the non-corridor suburban stock there anymore. More interesting in the background is the down platform of the widened lines from Moorgate. The tunnels surfaced on either side of the station, the up platform, (the York Way platform), was on the other side of the station at the country end of platform 1. No. 31227 awaits departure from King's Cross with the 20.30 to Hertford North on the 27th April 1976.
