A trio of Virgin 'Thunderbirds' head southbound past Cathiron on 22nd August 2008, lead by 57313 'Tracey Island' with 57303 'Alan Tracey' and 57309 'Brains' in tow. These locomotives. in this more unusual move, will have been heading in convoy in readiness to operate diversions with Pendolinos off the WCML due to forthcoming bank holiday engineering work. 57313 was previously 47313, a Railfreight locomotive and carried the unofficial name of 'Stingray'. 57303 was previously Scot-Rail allocated 47705 and carried the names 'Lothian' and latterly 'Guy Fawkes' when it was owned by Waterman Railways. 57309 was previously a Virgin Cross Country 47/8 no 47806.
