Looking at this photo, you wouldn't have thought Storm Ashley was battering the UK, but I can certainly tell you that the wind was ramping up as Direct Rail Services Class 66/0 No. 66031 leads No. 66424 through Appleby on 20th October 2024 working 1134 Carlisle Kingmoor to Carlisle Kingmoor via Whitehaven, Carlisle, S&C, Skipton, Blackburn, S&C, Carlisle, WCML, Preston, Barrow, Carnforth, Windermere, Oxenholme, WCML and finally back to Carlisle the next morning.
