A scene that has totally changed in the 40 years since the photo was taken. With at least fifteen locomotives visible to the left and right on the stabling point Class 37 No. 37225 heads along the Chepstow line at Severn Tunnel Junction on 9th August 1984 with a mixed rake of ballast hoppers. The loco shed in the centre background remains extant but in a disused state and everything else is long gone.
