On 10th August 2023, in all over grey livery, and as yet unbranded, Hitachi Class 805 No. 805001 is seen departing Crewe on a mileage accumulation/driver training run from Preston to Oxley TMD for which there are now daily paths. Thes units are to enter service with Avanti West Coast to replace their present Voyager fleet.
