The XPT Class Power Cars, introduced in 1982, were based on the UK HST design and use traction equipment made at Brush, Loughborough, with 2000HP Paxman VP185 engines (from 2000), with speed limited to 100 mph. NSW TrainLink Class XP No.XP2002, originally named City of Brisbane, one of the first 10 built by Comeng Melbourne from 1981/2, has arrived at Sidney Central Station, with Classmate No. XP2001, on 17th April 2023 with the 14:15 service from Dubbo.
