Transpennine Express Class 397 No. 397011 approaches Preston with a service from Manchester Airport while Avanti West Coast Pendolino No. 390129 departs south with a Glasgow to Euston service. The TPE service was terminating short of its intended destination of Glasgow Central due to staffing issues while the AWC service was one that serviced the industrial action being taken by train managers on 22nd October 2022.
