Princess Coronation class No. 46229 Duchess of Hamilton departs Rugby at 08.50 on a very overcast and freezing 30th November 1996 with the Royal Scot from Euston to Glasgow. Hauling a heavy train and a Class 47 on icy rails the sanders were on full as the curve was taken under the Birmingham line flyover to head up the Trent Valley. Apart from the pristine loco this shot could have been taken any time in the early sixties and any maroon rebuilt Duchess.
