On display at the booking hall in the new Welsh Highland Railway Station at Caernarfon is "Watkin" built in 1893 by De Winton of Caernarfon - The design is unusual a vertical boiler with the firebox is at the bottom and the chimney at the top -"Watkin" initially operated in Penmaenmawr stone quarries on an industrial railway. The last use of "Watkin" was August 1954 providing steam vulcanizing conveyer belts, was rescued for preservation in 1966 by E W Hughes of Llanrwst, on 6th June 2019.
