South Eastern & Chatham Railway Class D 4-4-0 steam locomotive No. 737 was built at Ashford in 1901 and withdrawn from service in 1956. The elaborate decoration of this locomotive may have given it a touch of class, but passengers were more interested in its speed! This locomotive is preserved in the National Railway Museum at York.
