Given the volume of traffic on both the Leeds and Blackburn lines, the chances of simultaneous arrivals at Hellifield are incredibly slim. However, such an event occurred on 23rd March 2018 when Colas Class 37 No. 37099 (with classmate No. 37421 on the rear) is seen coming off the Blackburn line into the goods loop to await departure time with the 14:02 Carnforth - Derby Network Rail Test train, as Northern Class 158 No. 158908 and Class 153 No. 153360 arrive from Leeds with the late running 14:49 Leeds - Carlisle service.
