1984 saw the return of steam to the Fort William-Mallaig section of the West Highland Railway with LMS Class 5 No. 5407 heading the majority of the trains. Here it rests in the yard at Fort William in the company on Class 37 No. 37081 Loch Long on 4th June 1984
