A rare sight at this busy location is a loco hauled train as they are normally diverted to use the Styal Line usually freight from and to Trafford Park. However on 10th March 2018 a Northern Belle circular luncheon train from Liverpool to Liverpool saw DRS Class 57 No. 57303 Pride Of Carlisle leading through Heaton Chapel. In the opposite direction a Northern Rail EMU Class 323 No. 323228 departs with a service to Alderley Edge.
