On the 9th November 2017, Class 50 No. 50008 Thunderer was the chosen motive power hauling three coaches from Derby Gas Tank Sidings to Bishop Auckland West for the Weardale Railway Polar Express. The train is seen passing through Moorthorpe at line speed.
