Norwegian Railways class EI 18 No. 18 2258 waits at Flam station, having arrived on the afternoon of 14th October 2017 from Myrdal, some 20km away. In that distance, the line ascends/descends 2200m and inclines of up to 1:19, without any funicular assistance. A sister locomotive is at the tail of the train, waiting to haul the train back up to Myrdal, where it meets the main Oslo/Bergen line.
