Shirebrook MPD, Nottinghamshire, operated as a sub shed of nearby Toton and would normally have around a dozen locos stabled at weekends awaiting their next duties on morning when the coal mines resumed production. A polite word with the foreman was all that was required to gain entry and as can be seen in this image of Class 56 No. 56008 in original rail blue livery taken on 7th June 1986, it wasn't just men that were interested in having a look around. Class 56 No. 56008 was withdrawn from service during October 1999 and cut up at Immingham TMD by Raxstar Ltd in April 2000.
