25 English Electric Type 40's were named by BR after ships operated by either Cunard Line, Elder Dempster Lines or Canadian Pacific Steamships. In June 1962 No. D213 was selected to become 'Andania', a Cunard Lines 14,000 ton passenger liner launched in November 1921, converted to an armed merchant cruiser during World War II, and hit by a torpedo fired from a German submarine eventually sinking on 16th June 1940. With Class 40 No. D213 now preserved at Barrow Hill Roundhouse her name is once again displayed on her bodysides, on 18th September 2011.
