Class 90/1 No. 90148 is standing at the north end of Crewe Station on 5th April 1994, waiting to proceed to Crewe Electric TMD. Built locally at BREL Crewe Works she entered service during July 1990 as Class 90 No. 90048 but was reclassified as a Class 90/1 the following year. This entailed reducing her maximum speed to 75mph and isolating her ETH capability. Restored as No. 90048 in August 2002 she is currently in service with Freightliner Ltd, and continues to be based in Crewe. Although still wearing her two tone grey livery she now sports a red Freightliner logo on her bodyside rather than the Railfreight Distribution decal seen in the image and No. longer carries the silver BR double arrow and Crewe Electric TMD Depot plaques.
