Class 101 3 car DMU No. 101321, formed of DMCL No. 53146, TCL No. 59542 and DMBS No. 51249 is seen awaiting it's next duty on Platform 11 at Glasgow Central on 4th June 1986. Recently repainted in Strathclyde Transport orange and black livery the first vehicle, DMCL No. 53146, carries an Ayr Depot sticker under the drivers window. On adjoining Platform 10 a Class 120 3 car unit is boarding passengers for an Ayrshire line service. Just 2 months after this image was taken the Glasgow Central to Ayr route was electrified using brand new Class 318 EMUs which lead to a large reduction in the numbers of first generation DMUs being seen in Central Station. Class 101 No. 101321 soldiered on until both driving cars were withdrawn in October 1991 the centre coach having already been withdrawn during November 1990. All 3 vehicles had been scrapped by June 1992.
