On 2 6th October 2003 LBSCR A1X Class 0-6-0T No. 55 Stepney and E4 Class 0-6-2T No. 473 Birch Grove recreate The Brighton Blue Belle to commemorate the 40th anniversary of its running. On 27th October 1963 these two locomotives operated the last passenger train to travel the line from Haywards Heath to Hosted Keynes via Ardingly.
