Railfreight grey-liveried Class 31/1 No. 31252 is seen leaving Manchester Victoria Station light engine on Wednesday 29th March 1989. Built at Brush Loughborough as Type 2 No. D5680 in December 1960 she spent many years allocated to Eastern Region Depots before moving across the Pennines to the Midland Region. Allocated to Crewe at this time she would later move across to Toton TMD before being withdrawn in January 1995. Still in the old Railfreight grey colours No. 31252 was eventually scrapped during March 2000 at Peterborough Stabling Point, where she had been since withdrawal, by European Metal Processing.
