Class 31/4 No. 31436 was severely damaged in a collision with Class 45/0 No. 45014 at Chinley on 9th March 1986. The locomotive is seen here at Doncaster Works on 29th June 1986. Note it is minus a cab at the far end of the loco. It was withdrawn in October of that year when it was decided repairs would be too costly and was cut up at Doncaster in December 1986.
