Steam Locomotive No. 5 Shannon pictured on 16th May 2015 inside the main engine shed at the Didcot Railway Centre. The loco was built in 1857 at a cost of £800 for Capt. William Peel, the owner of the Sandy and Potton Railway and since then has had several owners. She is part of the countrys National Collection. There are only 5 remaining George England engines today and Shannon is the only standard gauge one. The remaining four are all narrow gauge and were built for, and are still with, the Ffestiniog railway in North Wales, where two of them are still operational.
