Norton Bridge as it used to be - at least temporarily. On electrification of the WCML south of Crewe the ex LNWR Signalbox at the north end of the was demolished to make way for what is now the Up Fast Line. As a consequence a temporary mechanical signalbox was opened in 1961 between what is now the Down Fast and Up Slow Lines immediately at the platform end. As can be seen from the track diagram the junction to the North Staffs Lines was at the north end of the and it was changed to the present arrangement at the south end on electrification. That layout has only another year or so to exist as it is being replaced by the NS Line Flyover Scheme. 1961
