SBB Class Re4/4i were the first design of locos to omit rigid frames and carrying wheels and had bogie mounted traction motors and for many years worked lightweight stock on intercity routes from the late 1940's until being superceded by the now ubiquitous Class Re4/4 ii's. The first 26 members of the class were equipped for Push-Pull working and carried corridor connections. No. 10039 in the photograph is one of the final version with rounded cabs and enters Lausanne past LausanneSB on 11.27 Yverdon-Villeneuve Local Train on 2nd March 1994.
