To cope with expected passenger volumes over the festive period East Midlands Trains strengthened some of their services including Crewe to Derby. In this case passengers were treated to an arguably superior ride on a Meridian 5 car unit instead of the usually rostered single coach Class 153. EMT Class 222 No. 222010 calls at Alsager with the 11:07 service from Crewe on 27th December 2014.
