Class 27/2 No. 27212 is shown departing Edinburgh Waverley with a push-pull working for Glasgow Queen Street on Friday 21st April 1978. Delivered to Cricklewood Shed in North London during May 1962 as Type 2 No. D5386, by 1970 all the class were concentrated in Scotland where they dominated the passenger and freight workings on the West Highland Lines, the Ayrshire Coast and Stranraer services. When the Edinburgh to Glasgow services were upgraded for push-pull operation she was initially converted and renumbered as a Class 27/1 No. 27103 in April 1974 being later modified to a Class 27/2 No. 27212 in March 1975. Replaced on these duties by Class 47/7s in the early 1980s another renumbering took place in January 1982, this time to a Class 27/0 No. 27066. Withdrawn from Eastfield TMD Glasgow during July 1987 she was purchased for preservation by the Dean Forest Railway where she can still be found today.
