On display in Crewe Basford Hall Yard at an open day held on 27th August 1995 was preserved Class 35 Hymek No. D7076 from the East Lancashire Railway at Bury. Built by Beyer Peacock at it's Gorton Works in Manchester and new to BR's Western Region in 1963 No. D7076 lasted just 10 years in service before withdrawn as scrap during May 1973. Further use was found for the loco by the Railway Technical Centre as a dead load vehicle at it's Old Dalby test site in Derbyshire before being finally dumped out of use in the early 1980s. No. D7076 was then fortunately rescued for preservation and has remained based on the East Lancashire Railway at Bury for the past 30 years.
