1984 marked the welcome return of Gresley A4 No. 60009 Union of South Africa, to its former haunts when it was rostered on the Scarborough Spa Express during the summer months. On one of its early trips on an unrecorded date, it awaits departure from at York having already completed the York-Harrogate-Leeds morning circuit, and bound for Scarborough. Of note are the two centre tracks which disappeared during the electrification on the ECML.
