Class 56 No. 56006 stabled on the turntable inside Barrow Hill roundhouse on Sunday 5th June 1988. Built by Electroputere at Craiova, Romania in April 1977 56006 had been delivered in BR Blue livery. Withdrawn in December 2003, No. 56006 was retained by EWS as a celebrity loco for a while, attending railway events around the country. Eventually preservation beckoned and it is currently preserved at Barrow Hill Roundhouse in BR Blue livery.
