Class 40 No. 40057 waiting to leave Edinburgh Waverley station for Haymarket MPD on 9th May 1983 having previously arrived on a local train from Dundee. New in 1960 as D257 and renumbered under TOPS during 1973, 40057 would continue in service for just over a year longer until withdrawn from Longsight MPD during July 1984. Disposal took place at Crewe Works in November 1988.
