The well preserved station at Stamford on the Peterborough to Leicester line was opened in 1848. Here on 23rd November 2013, it is host to a GWR locomotive, Castle Class 4-6-0 No. 5043 'Earl of Mount Edgcumbe' at the head of a charter from Tyseley to Ely running around 15 minutes early.
