The track layout at Stone favours the higher speed direct route to Colwich Junction used by the Virgin Pendolino service from Manchester Piccadilly to Euston and this results in a reverse cant to the track on the route to Stafford via Norton Bridge well illustrated by Cross Country Voyager No. 220103 negotiating the sharp curve through the station on 07:27 Manchester Piccadilly-Bournemouth on 3rd September 2013.
