'The Heart of Wales Scenic Explorer' crosses Cynghordy Viaduct on the descent from Sugar Loaf on 3rd August 2013, hauled by West Coast Class 47 No. 47826 and West Coast Class 57 No. 57315 on the rear. The Compass Tours excursion originated in Peterborough and ran to Cardiff via the Heart of Wales line, returning via Chepstow.
