After weeks of cold, dry weather Saturday 13th April 2013 turned out to be mild and very wet in the late afternoon. LMS Black 5s No's. 45407 and 44871 work 1Z40, the 14:34 Llandrindod Wells to Oxford via Cardiff (where a diesel would replace the steam engines). The excursion's publicity gave the train name as 'The Heart of Wales' but as can be seen in this image taken from the public footpath near to the Knuckle Yard at Margam the headboard shows 'The Midlander'
