Built by EMD in 1948 or 49 for Western Maryland as Class BL2 No. 81, BL for Branch Line. This unusual car bodied diesel switcher is displayed in June 1998 at the Baltimore and Ohio museum, Baltimore. It comes as no surprise that compared with its more functional looking counterparts the design was not popular mainly due to difficulties experienced in practical switching and maintenance.
