Sunday 7th October 2012 was quite a busy day for Carlisle with East Coast Services diverted by the WCML and then via Newcastle. In addition a failed tamper at Penrith was adding to the already busy scene. Here East Coast power car No. 43314 leads a diverted service from London King's Cross to Inverness. The coaches of this set are ex East Midlands trains and have yet to be re-liveried and brought up to East Coast specification.
