The photographer gets a cheery wave from the crew of Harry Needle Railroad Company (HNRC) Class 20, No. 20096, as it approaches the Welney Road level crossing at Manea in Cambridgeshire with Class 55 Deltic, No 55019 'Royal Highland Fusilier', in tow. HNRC Class 20, No 20314, in its distinctive orange livery, is on the tail. The Deltic was on its way back to Barrow Hill, following its recent visit to the North Norfolk Railway. The 20s had earlier dropped off Class 47. No. 47596, at the Mid-Norfolk Railway, after its visit to the NNR. This, the final leg of the journey, was diagrammed as 0Z46; the Barrow Hill to Sheringham leg was diagrammed as 0Z44, and the Sheringham to Wymondham leg was diagrammed as 0Z45.
