During the instigation of the Plymouth MAS system in 1974 locomotive changes on inter-regional services took place at Exeter St Davids. On the on 29th March 1974 Class 33 No. 33028 stands at the head of the stock of the 14:28 to Exeter -Waterloo. The late running 06:38 Leeds- Paignton is unusually headed by 45117, In the middle road stands 47003 waiting to take over the 09:20 Liverpool - Penzance, and Class 52 1041 has just backed onto the 07:38 Leeds - Penzance.
