Northern Rail's filthy Class 156 No. 156443 sits at Lancaster waiting to leave with the 11.30 service to Carlisle via the Cumbrian Coast. It takes around 3 hours 15 minutes to complete the 114 miles from Carnforth to Carlisle - 3 times longer than going via the normal west coast route.
