During a family holiday to Brittany an all too brief visit was made to 'La Vapeur Du Trieux' on a scorchingly hot and glaringly sunny 26th June 2011. A limited steam service operates between Paimpol and Pontrieux which is on a branch-line operated by 'TER Bretagne' connecting Paimpol (and intermediate stations) with the Paris to Brest mainline at Guingamp. The steam service operates between May and September providing (usually) one return service per day, two / three days per week and is aimed at the tourist, not the enthusiast. On the day I travelled a well-loaded 6-coach train was hauled by No. 141TD740, a 2-8-2T built in 1932 for use on commuter trains in the eastern Paris suburbs. Built for standard gauge use, but to the Continental loading gauge this is an immense engine, very beautifully-liveried in green with orange lining, not dis-similar to the British Railways lined green. When working hard uphill, it sounded as good as it looked. This view was taken at Pontrieux awaiting to return to Paimpol.
