Someone had decided that No. 20050 was worth looking after as it was dumped well away from the other stored locos at Swindon Works on 7th January 1981. As the prototype English Electric type 1 D8000 introduced in 1957 it was already 24 years old, and is now preserved for all to enjoy. A 4CEP unit awaits its turn for refurbishment.
