During the recession of 1980/81 British Rail stored many locos at Swindon Works, mainly consisting of Class 20, 31, 40 and 46's it is well known that not many saw service again. Here, withdrawn Class 40 No. 40114 stands alongside the works buildings awaiting its fate on 7th January 1981.
