A visit to the Crewe Works open day on 17th August 1996, found a number of Class 47s awaiting the attention of the breaker. Most have been used as as doner locomotioves for spare parts, Class 47/4 No. 47473 in large logo and 47/3 47340, in Dutch livery, stand in the works yard.
